The National Designated Authority is an interface and the main point of contact between a country and the fund. The primary role of the NDA is to ensure that activities supported by the fund are aligned with national strategic priorities and contribute to enabling ambitious adaptation and mitigation action in line with national needs. In order for the GCF Board to agree to fund a project, it must be approved by a letter of no objection provided by the NDA (or GCF National Focal Point (NFP))
The National Designated Authority (NDA) acts as the main liaison between a country and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Its primary role is to ensure that GCF-funded activities align with national priorities and support climate adaptation and mitigation efforts. For a project to receive GCF funding, it must be approved by the NDA through a letter of no objection.
The NDA plays a complementary role to that of the GCF at the national level, namely through the submission of directives on behalf of its country. These responsibilities evolve with the evolution of the GCF.
